Chemosaturation for uveal melanoma liver Metastases

Summary

The liver is the predominant site of metastasis in people with metastatic uveal melanoma (mUM). The prognosis of hepatic mUM is poor and treatment with curative intent is not possible in most patients. CHEMOSAT Hepatic Delivery System is a Class III CE-marked medical device that delivers chemotherapy directly to the whole liver, known as chemosaturation with percutaneous hepatic artery perfusion. The aim is to provide high doses of chemotherapy directly to the affected organ, whilst avoiding severe systemic side effects.

Health Technology Wales researchers searched for evidence on the clinical and cost effectiveness of chemosaturation with percutaneous hepatic perfusion of melphalan for liver metastases from uveal melanoma.
