The Industry User Group is a collaboration between industry representatives and Health Technology Wales, set up to raise awareness of HTW’s work and improving access to technology for NHS Wales.

Members of the group include small and medium sized enterprises and multi-national companies, all of which have links to Wales and are involved in the development and manufacture of innovations for the health and social care sector. It also provides an opportunity for HTW to keep up to date with the latest industry trends and spot opportunities for improving healthcare in Wales.

Luella Trickett

Biography >
X Luella joined ABHI in 2019, with over 25 years' experience in the pharmaceutical and HealthTech industries. Her career has seen her hold numerous specialist manufacturing and commercial roles at Baxter Healthcare, with responsibility for a range of product portfolios across the HealthTech spectrum within the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa. In 2012, Luella was seconded to the Department of Health for nine months as the Industry Liaison for the NHS Procurement Review, a role which saw her engage with government and the wider Life Sciences sector to facilitate the sharing of ideas and best practice. From 2015, Luella led Baxter Healthcare's Government Affairs and Public Policy agenda, where she was tasked with managing key policies impacting the HealthTech sector and the NHS - supporting change that enabled the adoption and spread of innovations that deliver whole-system value across healthcare settings. Before joining ABHI, Luella Chaired the Association's Public Affairs Policy Group, and has been a Director of the Board at the British Specialist Nutrition Association.

X David is a medicinal chemist and has worked in the pharmaceutical and life science industries for over 48 years. Formerly head of pharmaceutical R&D for Beecham and SmithKline in drug product discovery and development, David subsequently became a consultant and advisor to the pharmaceutical industries and regulatory authorities globally. He has created several start-up and University spin out companies in which he is a founder, shareholder and funder including ProTEM Services Ltd, a translational science and research company along with two Wales based technology companies.

X Debbie oversees all event organisation and activities at MediWales and frequently engages with members. She creates and facilitates relationships across the sector, assisting in collaboration and understanding the needs of the life science community.

X National Sales and Marketing Manager with over 18 years’ experience across the fields of Robotics, Orthopaedics, Negative Pressure, Wound Care and Pharmaceuticals. A strong focus on strategy, execution excellence, people management and marketing. With positions held including Associate Director (Sales and Marketing), National Sales Manager, National Robotics Manager, Regional Manager, Business Development Manager, Market Access Manager and Commercial Manager over my career to date. The range of roles have provided me with a vast amount of experience and a track record of success across new and established markets, whether acquiring, penetrating or maintaining business individually or through building a winning team.

X Matthew came from the National Guideline Alliance where he worked as a Senior Health Economist in the development of guidelines for the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). As well as overseeing our technology appraisals, Matthew’s role is to develop our relationship with industry and our scientific advice function.

Susan Myles

Director, Health Technology Wales

Biography >
X Susan has been engaged in applied health technology assessment for 25 years. Before joining Health Technology Wales, she led the development and work of the Scottish Health Technologies Group. Susan has received scholarships from the Department of Health and Medical Research Council, and is a previous recipient of a Harkness Fellowship in Health Care Policy. She holds qualifications in Economics (BA), Health Economics (MSc & PhD) and Epidemiology (PgDip).
