Guidance published on digital tool to support people living with chronic kidney disease in Wales

Health Technology Wales has published national guidance recommending the routine adoption of Kidney BEAM, a digital tool to support people living with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in Wales.
CKD affects just under 100,000 people in Wales. Lifestyle changes, such as increased exercise and an improved diet can be beneficial in helping to manage the condition and improve risk factors associated with CKD.
Digital rehabilitation and self-management interventions such as websites and apps can help to educate patients about their condition and provide tools to help them improve their lifestyle.
According to HTW’s guidance, Kidney BEAM, improves people’s quality of life and increases their confidence in managing their condition.
The guidance also found that the technology is cost effective and that it should be used an additional tool alongside any other programmes currently offered in Wales.
