Health Technology Wales publishes 2025/26 Annual Report

We are delighted to announce the publication of our 2025/26 Annual Report.

During 2025-26, we considered 56 new topic referrals and published 10 new HTW guidance documents.

Our guidance covered topics ranging from at-home video monitoring for epilepsy to capsule sponge devices to detect Barrett’s oesophagus and early oesophageal cancer.

To improve the clarity of our guidance we introduced a new set of guidance recommendations that applies to all new guidance published from February 2026 onwards. These changes are designed to ensure our national guidance is clearer, more consistent, and accessible to a wider audience.

Our latest Adoption Audit Report achieved the best response rate to date at 98% with participation by all 10 commissioning organisations in Wales. The audit, which focussed on six pieces of HTW guidance, and three pieces of NICE Medical Technologies Evaluation (MTEP) guidance, demonstrated once again that our work is driving impact and supporting decision‑making across Wales.

We continued to work as a collaborating partner of the Health and Care Research Wales Evidence Centre, conducting rapid evidence reviews to support decision making by Welsh policy makers.

PPI (patient and public involvement) also remains a core part of our appraisal work, and we are grateful as ever to our PPI Standing Group (PPISG) who conduct such valuable work to ensure the patient and public voice is included in our work.

Looking ahead, the latest HTW Strategic Plan outlines our priorities for the next four years and sets an ambitious direction for the organisation. We would like to thank our partners for their continued support in developing the plan and we look forward to working together to deliver the goals and objectives it outlines.
