Summary

Diabetic foot ulcers are hard to heal complications of chronic diabetes with generally poor clinical outcomes. The production of nitric oxide is reduced in people with diabetes, which can impair wound healing.

Health Technology Wales researchers searched for evidence on the clinical and cost effectiveness of nitric oxide-generating wound dressings for diabetic foot ulcers.

Based on the evidence identified, HTW’s Assessment Group concluded not to progress this topic to evidence appraisal.
